Parfum:
Story of Oud
Thank you for participating in the Parfum: Story of Oud masterclass. Together with our Skins Experts, you have dived into the history of perfume and learned more about a unique ingredient: oud. You learned about the history, origin and characteristics of this ingredient. With twelve extraordinary perfumes, you experienced different scents on the blotter and skin.
Fragrances are divided into scent families. The scent wheel on the side shows which families there are and how they are composed. Oud is a popular ingredient in perfume and is often found within the ambery family of fragrances. With this versatile fragrance note, the fragrance experience can differ greatly due to the origin, age and purity of the ingredient.
Floral Oud
An ingredient that Oud is often combined with is the Rose. Rose is like an envelope that envelops and restrains the Oud. She, as it were, polishes the rough side and creates refinement. During the masterclass we discovered the following:
1. Simone Andreoli | Rose of Dangerous Flamenco
2. Chris Collins | Long Kiss Goodnight
3. Ella K | Rose de Pushkar
4. Hermetica | Dark Oud (exclusively available in our boutiques)
Woody/Ambery Oud
To create an Ambery Oud you can add the ingredient Patchouli or woody notes. Patchouli is an ingredient that blends effortlessly with the Oud ingredient. It gives a spicy aspect to the Oud. Woody notes give more texture to a perfume. During the masterclass we discovered the following four:
1. Byredo | Tobacco Mandarin
2. Goldfield & Banks | Wood Infusion
3. Memo | African Leather
4. Parfums de Marly | Haltane
Spicy Oud
In addition to the above combinations, we also have the Spicy Oud category. The combination Saffron, leather and Oud is often used for this. A complex composition with an intense fragrance experience. Also discover the last four combinations:
1. Matiere Premiere | Falcon Leather
2. Aqualis | Kruger
3. DS & Durga | Notorious Oud
4. Ex Nihilo | Oud Vendôme
