The moon plays a leading role in guiding the rhythm of life in the Middle East, its ethereal appearance heralding the beginning and end of all festivities. But in Arabic, invoking the moon is also an allusion to romance - "my moon"; an adoring grandiose term for one's beloved that speaks of beauty and eternal devotion. Rose, oudh and frankincense exude a warm, opulent quality and meet a surprising abundance of ripe red berries. In subtle elicitation of the fruit-flavoured shisha enjoyed throughout the region, the abundance of notes of red berries and raspberries adds sweetness and colour.
