    Skins Privacy Policy

This is the privacy statement of Skins Cosmetics B.V., hereinafter referred to as Skins. This privacy statement provides information on how we process the personal data of our customers and users on our website. The careful and secure processing of personal data is important to us.

This Privacy Statement applies to all processing of personal data by Skins, whose registered office is in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and which is registered in the Trade Register of the Chamber of Commerce under number 34126773. In this privacy statement, you can read how Skins processes personal data, for what purposes this is done and on what legal basis. We explain whether — and, if so, to whom — personal data is disclosed, how this data is secured and what retention periods we apply. Finally, you will find out how you can exercise your rights, such as the right of access.

    1. Introduction

    1.1 Personal data

As described above, this privacy statement explains how we process your personal data. But what exactly do we mean by personal data? This refers to all data that can be traced back to you as an individual and which can be used to identify you. Examples include your name, address, telephone number or customer number.

1.2 Under the age of eighteen

We do not intend to collect data from children. The use of our services by customers under the age of eighteen is therefore only permitted with the express consent of a parent or guardian.

    2. What personal data do we use for our services?

We process personal data for various purposes, such as processing and delivering orders, personalisation, and improving and securing our services. We delete personal data as soon as it is no longer required for the purpose for which it was collected.

In some cases, the processing of personal data is necessary. Examples include address details for the delivery of an order, or your name and contact details when dealing with an enquiry or complaint. Where processing is not necessary — such as when sending a newsletter — we will only do so with your consent. You may withdraw this consent at any time.

    2.1 Visiting the website

    2.1.1 Registration with Skins online

When you place an online order, we need your name, address and telephone number, email address, and bank and payment details to process your order and keep you informed of its progress. You may optionally share your date of birth with us. You can create a one-off account with Skins so that you do not have to re-enter this information with every order. Following a reminder, we will delete your Skins account details after five years of inactivity.

With a Skins account, you can also post reviews of products you have purchased. You can choose whether to use your real name or a nickname.

    2.1.2 Newsletter

When you sign up for our weekly newsletter, we’ll use your email address to keep you informed about new items in our collection, developments in our services and special events. No longer interested? You can easily unsubscribe via the link at the bottom of every newsletter or via your personal Skins account.

    2.1.3 Skins Inclusive loyalty programme

If you sign up for Skins’ loyalty programme, Skins Inclusive, we’ll use your name and email address to keep you informed about the programme, your loyalty level and personalised rewards. You can also save your favourite boutique and maintain an address book and wish list. You can subscribe separately to the Skins Inclusive newsletter, through which we’ll keep you updated monthly on the latest news, rewards and developments within the programme. We’ll delete this data after two years of inactivity.

    2.2 Customer Service

When you contact our customer service team, we process the data necessary to deal with your enquiry or complaint. This includes, amongst other things, your name, email address, telephone number and the content of your message. We do not retain this data for longer than two years after the last contact regarding the message in question.

    2.3 Communication by post
We may use your address details to send you information by post about products, services, events or offers that are relevant to your previous purchases. If you no longer wish to receive post from us, you can opt out by contacting our customer service team.

    3. Sharing data with third parties

We may share your personal data with our data processors: parties we engage to carry out certain tasks relating to the processing of personal data, such as delivering your order. Where personal data is transferred to countries outside the European Union, we ensure that this is done in accordance with applicable legislation, for example by using the standard contractual clauses established by the EU.

You may also be redirected via our website to third-party websites, such as those of suppliers. Skins is not responsible for the processing of personal data on these external websites. The privacy policy of the relevant party applies to the use of these websites. For more information on how they handle personal data, please refer to the privacy policy on their own website.

    4. Cookies

Skins uses various types of cookies and similar technologies on our website. Further information on this can be found in our cookie policy.

    5. How do we protect your data?

Skins takes the necessary measures to protect your personal data. From a technical perspective, we ensure that our systems are up to date and well secured. We use secure certificates to encrypt data traffic between your device and Skins. Payments are processed securely via Multisafepay.

Should a security incident, such as a data breach, occur despite these measures, we will act in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. Do you suspect that a security incident may have occurred? If so, please report this as soon as possible via webshop@skins.nl.

    6. Rights

We believe it is important that you can easily exercise the rights you have under the GDPR. You have the right to access and rectify your personal data. You can view and amend your data yourself at any time via your account.

You also have the right to data portability. This means that you can receive the data you have provided to us in connection with your agreement(s) with Skins in a machine-readable format. In your account, you can download details such as your name, address and place of residence, as well as your order history.

You also have the right to have your personal data erased and the right to restrict the processing of your personal data by Skins or to object to such processing. To do so, you can submit a request via webshop@skins.nl.

    7. Image & Portrait Rights

During Skins events, photographic material may be taken for the purposes of internal and external reporting, communication and marketing activities. This may include both general atmospheric images and images in which visitors are recognisable.

Skins handles the privacy and image rights of those involved with the utmost care. When capturing and using images, we always balance the importance of our communication activities against the privacy of the individuals depicted. Where appropriate and necessary, our photographers will seek prior consent for the use of images.

We attach great importance to using visual material in a respectful and proportionate manner. If you object to the use of an image in which you are recognisably depicted, please contact us at webshop@skins.nl. We will take your request into account and take appropriate measures, such as removing the image in question.

    8. Questions or complaints?

Skins considers it important that you are satisfied with the way we handle your privacy. If you have any questions or complaints, please contact us at webshop@skins.nl. Should we be unable to resolve the matter together, you may lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority. You can do so via: https://autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl/nl/contactmet-de-autoriteit-persoonsgegevens/tip-ons.

As we are constantly developing our services, this privacy statement may be amended. The most up-to-date version can always be found on our website. We recommend that you consult the privacy statement regularly so that you remain informed of any changes.
