Hair diagnosis: discover your hair type
and find the care that really suits you

Just like skincare, haircare has different hair types and conditions. By better understanding your hair, you can target products that really work.
In this blog we dive deeper into dry and oily hair, and we also explain common hair conditions such as dandruff and damage.
For each type, you will discover which products will bring your hair back into balance.

Hair type vs hair condition: what's the difference?

As with skin, your hair type is largely genetic: dry, normal or oily, for example. A hair condition, on the other hand, is temporary and impressionable, such as dandruff or damage caused by styling tools. Your hair type is mainly determined by how much sebum your scalp produces. If you have greasy roots quickly after washing and your hair collapses quickly, you probably have oily hair. If, on the other hand, your hair feels rough, lacks shine and is prone to split ends, you are more likely to have dry hair. Normal hair feels supple, shines slightly and stays fresh for days without weighing down quickly.

A simple way to better understand your hair type is to wash your hair and then wait 24 to 48 hours without any additional products. If your hair continues to feel light and clean, then it is probably normal. If it feels heavy or greasy towards the end of the day, that indicates an oily scalp. If your hair continues to feel dry and rough even after washing, then you probably have a dry hair type.

Also take external influences into account. Seasonal changes, hormonal changes, stress or an intense lifestyle can temporarily alter your hair type. So it is valuable to observe your hair regularly and adjust your routine accordingly.
