Smell, for many, contributes significantly to the perception and interpretation of the world around us. Scientific research shows that our sense of smell is directly linked to the limbic system, the part of the brain responsible for emotions, memory and motivation. This means that a particular scent can instantly evoke moods and feelings without us always being aware. For example, for many, the smell of vanilla brings out feelings of comfort and warmth, while peppermint is known for its stimulating and concentration-enhancing properties.
