What are molecular perfumes?
Molecular perfumes are distinguished by their composition, which consists of a single molecule or a few molecules, rather than various fragrance ingredients. These molecules react to the wearer's skin chemistry, making each perfume smell subtly different on everyone. This makes molecular perfumes particularly personal and ensures that they adapt to your unique scent.
The invisible scent
One of the best-known molecular fragrances is Molecule 01 by Escentric Molecules. A frequently asked question is, "Why can't I smell Molecule 01?" The fragrance consists of only one ingredient, Iso E Super, and therefore cannot be considered an eau de parfum or eau de toilette. Iso E Super is a colourless, synthetic liquid - an ingredient that sometimes remains invisible until it unexpectedly reappears. This appearance is known as 'olfactory fatigue', where you become temporarily desensitised to a scent you smell frequently.
