D.S. & DURGA pioneered the 'do-it-yourself' movement in Brooklyn at the turn of the century. The duo believes in the ability of perfumes to make invisible worlds visible. The power of scent is equal to that of sight and hearing. D.S. & DURGA creates a new universe through scents: everything loved in music, art and nature is translated into fragrance notes. They are fragments of myths and fantasies, inviting the outside world to discover them. D.S. & DURGA's creativity comes from within, which is how home perfumer D.S. taught himself to create perfumes by immersing himself in all things scented. This enabled him to translate objects, places and characters into scent stories. Kavi, or Durga, is the designer of the perfume bottles and more. She approaches her work like an architect; thinking in angles, light, shadow and texture in order to realise the story of the fragrance A good fragrance is a world that can be experienced again and again.

The vision of D.S. & DURGA

D.S. & DURGA was founded by David (D.S.), a self-taught perfumer, and his partner Kavi (Durga), an architect and designer. Together, they create perfumes based on a deep belief in the power of scent as an artistic medium. In their Brooklyn studio, they experiment with ingredients, memories and music to bring abstract ideas to life.“We see scent as an art form,” say the duo themselves – and you can sense that in every detail, from the fragrance to the bottle.

Pistachio: from experiment to cult classic

Pistachio Eau de Parfum by D.S. & DURGA began as a spontaneous experiment – a playful ode to the sweet, nutty scent of pistachio. Originally released as a limited edition run of one hundred bottles, the fragrance quickly became a favourite for many. The fragrance opens with a gourmand blend of pistachio and almond, followed by a hint of cardamom and warm patchouli. The result is seductive, quirky and irresistible. Pistachio is now a permanent fixture in the collection, much to the delight of enthusiasts worldwide.
